Alabama has long been a state to drag it's heels, kicking and screaming into the present day. It's a testament to their strength and stubbornness, really. They try so hard to live the same values that they were founded on: racism, slavery, discrimination.

But they never stop trying to get back to their roots. White, hetero, religious, and playing by their own rules.
